"Ghost Hunters," one of my favorite shows on television, returns with all-new installments tomorrow night at 9/8c on Sci Fi. To promote the new season, stars Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson participated in a conference call and revealed some details about the new seasons.
The two TAPS members disclosed some of the locations they will be visiting this season. First up is the Betsy Ross house which will air tomorrow night. Also investigated during the season's first eight episodes is Star Island, which used to be a religious community at one time. "They've had a lot of activity - a lot of claims of activity going out there," said Hawes. One of the coolest cases of the year, according to Wilson, is the Georgia Aquarium. "They have a traveling Titanic exhibit with actual artifacts from the Titanic. And everywhere that goes, every museum that goes too, supposedly activity follows. So we caught up with it in Georgia and I had just an interesting time there dealing with the Titanic artifacts," Wilson stated.
Hawes and Wilson wouldn't reveal specifics about the evidence that was caught but they definitely caught some interesting stuff. "We've brought in new equipment, and that yields new types of evidence," said Wilson. "We got some strange things this year," Hawes added. "We caught some great evidence and great visuals and great audio. Some other neat little things."
Asked about the "Ghost Hunters International" spinoff, Hawes said "I think they're doing great. They've had some changes to the team that have really benefited them." He also revealed that the GHI team will be investigating Spalding Inn, which the two bought and are in the process of restoring.
With "Ghost Hunters" proving so popular that it has spawned two spinoffs, Hawes and Wilson were asked about other possible ways to expand the franchise. Wilson admitted that they have had offers for video games and other things but just haven't moved on them. Hawes did reveal that the two have another book coming out later this year. He also said he would love to "eventually see some of the cases put together in movie format and out there on the big screen."
The two guys were asked which person who has passed away they would love to have an encounter with. Grant thought "it'd be nice to sit down with Jesus and find out what really happened. I'm sure he'd have a lot to talk about." Jason jokingly said Elvis "if he's really dead" then gave his real response. "Honestly, if I could sit down with anybody who really passed on, it would be Chris Angelo, who used to be a cast member, who was killed in a car accident. That would be the best person in the world I could sit down and talk to." Grant agreed.
While Grant is still surprised that anyone watches the show, he believes the show is popular because people can "explore and discover the paranormal in the safety of their home." Even Jason's five kids have gotten into the field. "My kids will go and they'll do a little mock investigation and everything else to figure out what's truly going on," said Hawes. His daughter has already learned the art of debunking. "My eight year old daughter thought her room was haunted at one point and ended up finding out it was nothing but her Furby with a low battery making these weird noises."
Eight episodes of "Ghost Hunters" will air this spring while 17 more will begin unspooling later on in the year. If you haven't seen the show before and are even remotely interested in the paranormal, I highly recommend you check it out when the new season premieres tomorrow night.
